Hanging Out at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago
I spent about 45 minutes hanging out with a good friend of mine at the lobby inside Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. That sounds like an odd thing to do because:
- Neither of us have children.
- We weren’t visiting anybody at the hospital.
- We live in Chicago…don’t we have better places to “hang out”?
Here’s how we ended up there:
Earlier in the day, we popped by the Museum of Contemporary Art, which is nearby the hospital. Neither one of us wanted to get coffee or lunch, but still felt like we were in the mood to chat. That’s how we stumbled upon the lobby — it just seemed like a good place to sit down and talk.
If you’re looking to improve your hospital’s lobby, take a cue from Lurie. What made the lobby so great is that we didn't even feel like we were in a hospital. Here’s what it featured:
- A view of the city
- Healthy dining options
- An indoor garden
